Hi, I’m Shari
A licensed Speech Language Pathologist, passionate about providing individualized expert care to improve oral function for feeding, communicating, and overall quality of life.
WHY 'NEST'?
A nest is a symbol of home and love, of safety, stability, and comfort. It’s where the young are nurtured before they go out into the world and fly. My therapy style embodies these qualities to support you, and help your child thrive.
I'm an experienced SLP, dedicated to providing the most up-to-date, evidence-based care.
I received my B.A. in Psychology from San Diego State University and went on to earn my M.S. in Speech Pathology and Audiology from the University of the Pacific in 2009. With over 10 year of experience I can truly say I love what I do.
I am a member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and have earned the ACE award for continuing education for multiple consecutive years. I continue to be dedicated to learning in order to provide the most up to date techniques and evidence-based care. I have taken extensive coursework on topics related to infant and pediatric feeding, tethered oral tissues, oral-motor sensory function, and orofacial myofunctional therapy. Years of hands-on clinical experience and my personal journey have helped shape my education and practice.
Offering the support, guidance and advocacy I once needed.
My passion is in identification and treatment of underlying oral-motor sensory challenges to help support speech delays, infant feeding and orofacial myofunctional disorders. My approach emphasizes providing education and coaching, and forming true connections with my all of my clients, regardless of age. I have worked in a variety of settings including hospital, clinic, and school-based, but am pleased to offer in-home therapy for my families.
My personal experiences as a mother of twins with TOTs, breastfeeding challenges, GI issues, airway issues… (the list goes on and on), have shaped my professional journey and focus. Even with all the tools and knowledge I had as an SLP, I was in way over my head as a first time mom. I had wished for more support, but often times felt that my concerns were brushed aside. My goal is for every family I work with to feel heard, validated, and empowered with knowledge. By looking at the root cause of the symptoms and using a whole-child approach, my promise is to support you and help your child reach their goals.

HOW IT WORKS
Get in touch
I would love to hear from you! Call, email, or complete the contact form to set up a complimentary phone consultation. During our 20 minute call we will address your concerns and goals and determine next best steps for your family.
Evaluation
In-depth assessment in your home which may use a combination of formal and informal measures (i.e. parent/client interview and observations). Evaluations are typically 60-90 minutes depending on areas being assessed. I gather as much information as possible to get a clear and comprehensive understanding of your child, underlying issues, and goals. I will share my impressions and we will discuss recommendations for an individualized therapy plan.
Treatment
The good stuff! Therapy is provided in your family’s most natural environment, your nest! Therapy sessions are weekly, length and frequency will be determined after the evaluation based on individual needs. Feedback, coaching, and recommendations for practice are always an integral part of the process. A fun play-based approach will be used with toddler and elementary school kiddos. No matter the age, therapy will always feel positive and encouraging.
